At Tallawah MPC, we believe good communication is the cornerstone of effective leadership. In fact, we value it so much that we hone our skills on a regular basis. Following are some lessons that have improved our interactions with others which are sure to help you do the same.

First, be mindful of the negative language you use – even when it is well-intended. Instead of exclaiming, “We’re going to murder the competition!” for instance, focus on positivity and teamwork. Our Tallawah MPC team suggests that you say, “I just know we’re going to do amazing work together!”

It’s crucial to be true to your word. Keep your promises, and ensure that your actions align with the values you preach. This is how you demonstrate integrity and trustworthiness to others. Similarly, make sure you are transparent at all times. Be open and honest with relevant information – even when it isn’t particularly pleasant.

Keep in mind that communication isn’t only a matter of what you say (or how you say it). Active listening is an ability you must master if you want to improve your relationships. Invite people to share their ideas and opinions, and listen with the intention of understanding. Demonstrate your interest by nodding along to what you hear and making eye contact with others as they speak.
